Continuing on from our captain article for Match day 2 which can be read here. We now continue and look forward to match day 3 to see who can make the difference for our respective Champions League Fantasy sides. Some of you may be looking to take the likes of Robert Lewandowski who in his first two games has almost been non-existent for FC Bayern Munich so far.

Marcus Rashford the MBE, can do no wrong at the moment, especially after his Champions League hat-trick against RB Leipzig on the pitch. To date in the Champions League he has scored four goals total in the competition. In terms of Fantasy points and the like, he is classed as a midfielder, but playing as a striker.

An out of position player or OOP player, that is something us as fantasy managers love to see, same as Joshua Kimmich at Bayern Munich. So far, the midfielder has got 23 fantasy points to date. He goes to Istanbul to face Istanbul Basaksehir FK and I believe that Marcus Rashford would be in line to get another hat-full.

I’ve commentated on Marcus Thuram of Borussia Monchengladbach for the brief period that I played the Fantasy Bundesliga game, so I know a little bit about him. Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League so far, are the free scoring team in their group and Marcus Thuram are on of the players taking advantage.

In terms of Fantasy potential and points, the French international is definitely holding his own with his striking counterparts. At this particular moment in time, the two top points scoring forwards are David Zapata of Atalanta (23) and Lionel (Leo) Messi of FC Barcelona (17), with Marcus Thuram (16) one spot behind.

The former Manchester United attacker has certainly found his footing in Italy. He seems to be making moves in this season’s Champions League, while having made an impact in last season’s Europa League. The Belgian has so far 12 Fantasy points to his name and Ousmane Dembele (13) and Lionel Messi (17) are just ahead of him.

This week Inter Milan go away to what is so far, an underperforming Real Madrid team. They are so far, a side that has conceded 5 goals in two Champions League outings and against Inter Milan, I see that continuing. Is Romelu Lukaku a captain choice this week, he is definitely a consideration.

This article is for players who are considering replacing Robert Lewandowski this week. I believe this article has put forward some tough choices and considerations that managers need to deal with. Let me know what you think and follow along on Twitter. Aaron Boyse for UCL Fantasy Goal.
